It doesn’t take many miles or much time to discover the excellence of the Asics Superblast 3—a truly successful shoe that we immediately honored with a First Award.
Let’s start with the highly effective FF Blast foam, which delivers outstanding comfort and remarkable energy return. The result is a very lightweight shoe (235 grams measured in size 43.5) that feels highly responsive. The absence of a carbon plate is a real advantage: the Asics Superblast 3 is more versatile and easily adapts to different types of runs. It’s far from being limited to long distances—it performs extremely well over medium distances and even during training sessions.
We particularly loved the midsole, which provides great energy return while absorbing impact. Cushioning is substantial across the entire foot, yet the runner never experiences an overly “soft” or mushy feel: there’s no loss of energy, stability remains intact, and the forward transition is smooth and efficient.
The drop of the Asics Superblast 3 is 8 mm, with 38.5 mm at the forefoot and 46.5 mm at the heel. However, as mentioned earlier, the ride never feels overly rolling or unstable.
The outsole grip is solid and performs well on a variety of surfaces, even in wet conditions. The fit is easy, and the flat laces do their job well. The seamless construction is carefully executed. The design is clean and fresh.
An excellent road shoe for all distances—ultra-comfortable, highly cushioned, and efficient without compromising energy return. First Award – Test4outside.
