We tested the women’s version of the Inov-8 TrailFly Speed V2 and particularly appreciated its close-to-the-ground feel and excellent stability, while still preserving trail feedback. At a time when oversized shoes dominate the market, it is refreshing to rediscover the benefits of precise foot placement and natural ground contact.
Its 4 mm drop, minimalist yet not extreme, helps reduce the injury risk often associated with zero-drop shoes — especially for runners who are not accustomed to that type of footwear.
The Inov-8 TrailFly Speed V2 W provides excellent grip on most surfaces, particularly in technical terrain. It is exactly the kind of shoe we would choose for a Sky Running race, thanks in part to its impressive stability.
Over many kilometers, we noticed that the Inov-8 TrailFly Speed V2 W holds up very well. The materials feel durable and robust, suggesting strong long-term durability.
That said, this shoe is not designed for every runner. It is better suited to athletes with solid running technique and a more forefoot-oriented stride. Under those conditions, the Inov-8 TrailFly Speed V2 W can be extremely fast. For very long distances, however, it may lack enough cushioning to compensate for the natural degradation of running form over time.
Overall, this is a precise, ground-sensitive trail shoe that strikes an excellent balance between stability and trail feedback.
