We were curious to test this bike jersey, which promised to have a cooling effect on the body. We had tested a fabric developed by Mountain Hardwear and Colombia, which limited the sensation of being too warm (but therefore you felt cold in the downhill…)
Rh+ has chosen Polartec® technology, most notably Delta, which associates different sorts of fibers, hydrophobic and hydrophilic. From the outside the jersey seems very lightweight and open-weaved. We rode many times on Reunion Island at the beginning of summer in temperatures over 30°C (86°F).
The benefits of Delta leap out at you as soon as you put it on. You never feel hot; the transfer of perspiration is very fast due to the excellent ‘ventilation’ of this exceptional jersey. The Rh+ AirX Lite very quickly becomes like a second skin. It is really pleasant in contact with your skin, incredibly soft. Once wet you never feel cold or feel restricted by fabric that sticks. We doubted its action on the downhill because it is always at this moment that you feel the chill with wet garments. In a warm or cold (in the shade) atmosphere, you never suddenly feel chilly, due to the softness of the fabric, the rapidity of the transfer of humidity towards the exterior and its inevitable fast drying. It also doesn’t seem to smell bad very quickly either, even after many hours of wear.
So what’s wrong with it? Not much! You would have to be really picky to complain about the Polartec® label on the right-hand side of the jersey that vibrates the fabric on the downhill… and the bottom section of the zip is a bit stiff against your midriff. Care must be taken with washing, respect the manufacturer’s instructions.
The comfort of the collar is like a gentle caress and the pockets magnificently designed, stretchy and safe (no losing objects along the way).
This jersey really is top class and indispensable for riding in warm and/or humid conditions and without competition wins the Test4outside First Award hands down.
