The Dynastar M-Cross 88 W was tested in the “Piste Evolution” category, though it is officially designated as a women’s All-Mountain ski.
The graphics adopt a rather “girly” aesthetic, featuring a pink graphic scheme with metal tip protectors integrated seamlessly into the structure, a blue gradient, and selective varnish effects. The craftsmanship is top-tier, complemented by a high-quality base showcasing a stylish aerial perspective graphic.
We find the same excellence in this ski that we noted on the men’s version, the M-Cross 88 (which earned a Test4outside First Award). The Dynastar M-Cross 88 W is remarkably fluid, high-performing yet accessible, allowing skiers to progress and hold onto a ski that will easily endure over many seasons. Nitpicking just for the sake of it, one might have preferred a slightly more carved shape to guide skiers directly into pure edge engagement—fitting the “Piste Evolution” label better. Regardless, as an all-mountain tool, it is a fantastic ski: highly enjoyable, initiating turns effortlessly, holding a solid line on hardpack, and keeping vibrations down thanks to a forebody that absorbs terrain irregularities exceptionally well.
The Dynastar M-Cross 88 W is a well-behaved ski that essentially disappears beneath your feet. Set it on edge, and it rolls through the turn smoothly. There are no hidden traps and no need for an extensive instruction manual to master it; the tail is forgiving rather than overly stiff. Its versatility is impressive, catering to a broad ability range from intermediate to advanced skiers.
Ridden in an upright stance or in drifted turns, it behaves impeccably and lays flat with ease. That said, having a solid technical foundation helps you fully appreciate its value when driving it onto edge. Our testers thoroughly enjoyed it. The Dynastar M-Cross 88 W proves delightful in tight, short-radius pivoted turns, drifted, or skidded transitions. It holds a solid edge on steep, hardpacked slopes while absorbing bumps up front without chatter, making it very forgiving—even for casual side-country off-piste outings. It features a rubber tail block that dampens impacts and keeps the skis standing securely when leaned against a wall, alongside a fairly generous tip profile.
A versatile, highly enjoyable ski capable of handling anything a full day on the mountain throws at it.Serious performance. Just like its men’s counterpart, this women’s model earns our Test4outside First Award.
