With the 361° Futura 2, we’re getting all the strengths of the first version—but at a price that’s €10 lower! A rare and very welcome update. What else has changed? The Futura 2 now features a heel Velcro strap and a front loop for attaching gaiters. But let’s be honest—how many runners actually use gaiters these days? Most brands now prefer a stretch collar wrapping the ankle.
Another change worth noting: the use of recycled materials, including a mesh made from 50% recycled content.
It might be subjective, but the toe bumper feels noticeably more protective on this second version of the Futura.
As for performance, the ride remains unchanged, and that’s a good thing. Like the first Futura, this is a trail shoe that impressed us, combining both comfort and performance, particularly on long-distance runs.
The Vibram Megagrip outsole delivers great stability and powerful traction. The heel cushioning is perfectly balanced: it filters impact without erasing ground feel. The rockered transition is fluid and efficient.
Despite its relatively bulky appearance, the shoe remains precise in foot placement. Its measured weight of 320g in size 42.5 is 10g heavier than the previous model, but still within the norm for this category.
Foot lockdown is excellent, with no pressure points. The foam padding is effective, and the heel is well supported.
Lacing is quick and secure, with an elastic loop to hold excess lace, and a heel pull tab helps with easy on/off.
As always with 361°, build quality is top-notch—from the materials to the seamless construction.
The 361° Futura 2 is an excellent trail shoe, offering exceptional grip thanks to its Vibram sole and a smooth ride. It’s a comfortable choice for ultras and other long-distance adventures. It earns our Hot Deal award for its great value.
