The Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low shoe is trendy enough to wear in an urban setting as much as for a run in Central Park. These aren’t for performance, as major running brands provide shoes with soles that have much more cushioning. No the Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low is a shoe for pleasure, versatile and letting you run short distances with comfort.
This is one of the rare shoes you can wash in a machine. Allbirds use original materials for this type of product: the upper is made from Merinos, which provides real water-repellency. Even more surprising is the intermediary sole, which is made from a sugar cane derivative. The outer sole is made from certified natural rubber.
It sizes small and it’s quite warm, at least less ventilated than a product with a traditional mesh, no doubt due to the Merinos. So, we preferred using this Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low between seasons.
Even if the Allbirds are designed like a slipper without a standard opening they slide on very easily and the comfort is premium: soft foot envelopment, seamless. We like the large sewn eyelets. However, the lateral foothold is lacking, so you must run on flat terrain and roads.
The Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low dynamic qualities are less than a pure road-running shoe. That said, the sole provides light spring and good filtering at the rear and the forefoot has much more diffused cushioning. This shoe is quite heavy, especially at the heel. But it has a pleasant stride.
We don’t know if the overhang at the heel (the latest trend) is irritating when driving aa car or if it’s the opposite and it keeps your foot in place… we’ve not tried.
The slightly ridged outer sole is efficient on roads but quickly finds its limits.
We like the overall style of the Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low, and its sleek lines.
The Allbirds Wool Dasher Mizzle Low is a nice shoe for short distances on flat terrain. Very comfortable and warm, it has a very stylish look due to its construction and Merinos upper. It lacks some dynamism to keep in line with top-level road-running shoes because it plays in both parks: sport and city.
