This compact 18-liter backpack combines technical features borrowed from trail running packs with those of a hiking backpack.
The back panel of the Arc’teryx Aerios 18 is flexible, while the shoulder straps feature dedicated pockets for soft flasks. The design focuses heavily on minimalism. The result is a remarkably low weight, coming in at under 600 grams on our scales. The Arc’teryx Aerios 18 demonstrates that lightweight design and performance can go hand in hand.
The backpack’s ventilated, honeycomb-style back panel helps reduce sweating while remaining comfortable, provided you don’t overload the Arc’teryx Aerios 18 beyond its intended capacity. We also appreciated the slim but effective hip belt.
Trekking poles can be attached to the pack, while a hydration bladder can be fitted inside. Jackets or water bottles can also be carried in the side pockets. The straps are thin and neatly integrated into the overall design. The pack stays firmly in place on your back, much like a trail running vest.
The build quality is excellent, with attention to detail throughout and no unnecessary frills. The Arc’teryx Aerios 18 is water-resistant and offers good resistance to tearing.
The zippers run smoothly and are fitted with thin cord pulls. Dedicated compartments allow you to keep essentials such as your keys and phone safely stored.
A premium ultralight pack designed for day hikes. The price is high, but the design, construction and finishing are in keeping with its premium positioning.
