Tested alongside the jacket of the same name, the Arc’teryx Fissile Pant also earns a First Award. Skied in extreme conditions on the Tignes glacier at -20°C, this pant showed no signs of weakness. It ticks all the boxes for what a ski pant should deliver. Yes, the price is steep (around €700), but the performance fully justifies it.
This is both a protective and insulating pant. While Arc’teryx opted for a down/Primaloft mix in the Fissile SV jacket, they made the logical choice of going with 100% Primaloft insulation for the Fissile pant. The thin insulation provides excellent thermal protection, striking just the right balance — warm without overheating, both in motion and at rest.
Comfort is top-tier, with a slight stretch for ease of movement. The cut offers excellent freedom, ideal for dynamic skiing. One of the stand-out features is waterproofing: the Gore-Tex membrane and fully sealed zippers — including the fly — provide outstanding protection from the elements. Build quality is, as always with Arc’teryx, exceptional.
The hand pockets are well-placed and lined with soft fabric — a welcome touch for cold hands.
Inside the pant, reinforced panels provide excellent edge protection from ski damage — a detail that speaks to thoughtful, high-performance design.
Waist adjustment is managed by a slim belt system that avoids bulk under layers or a jacket.
In short, a must-have for winter 2025. This pant combines everything you’d expect from a premium ski product: insulation, waterproofing, comfort, and build quality. The price may be high, but how could we not award it a First Award?
