Version 18 of the Cascadia left us a bit underwhelmed, with cushioning and responsiveness falling short compared to more “energized” models. With the new Brooks Cascadia 19, those issues have been addressed, and what we now have is a well-tuned shoe that’s both high-performing and comfortable—a true all-round trail shoe.
The balance between cushioning and precision is particularly impressive. You can confidently attack rocky descents without worrying about pain underfoot, yet still maintain good ground feel to push off again without risking a twisted ankle. There’s minimal rolling, and the energy return is noticeable: the Brooks Cascadia 19 is certainly not a lifeless shoe.
We appreciated its grip and the outsole’s performance in muddy conditions—it doesn’t get clogged up. The blue section of the sole, which includes the lugs, is glued on: is this a durable solution? We remember some Asics models with a similar design that started peeling off. However, during our tests, we saw no signs of weakness—something to watch for over time.
Comfort is another strong point, with well-placed foam and a precise fit. The Brooks Cascadia 19 gives you a sensation of being close to the ground. The drop is 6 millimeters. The flat laces do the job well. The flexible rock plate is effective. Overall, the build quality is solid and well thought out.
An excellent trail running shoe with well-balanced cushioning and a notably responsive ride. Stable and versatile, it’s a strong contender for technical trails and beyond.
