La Chaussette de France Scrambler

HOT DEAL

We tested the Scrambler out trail running, road running and road cycling. These are thin and light socks (38g in size 42/43) and the brand describes them as a versatile product. And in all the sports we used them for they were top notch.

This is due to their conception. For 19 euros La Chaussette de Franceprovides : knitting, or rather mapping, to describe its complexity. It uses a multitude of materials and ways of weaving. There is polyamide, cotton, bio-ceramic polyester, Meryl polyamide and elastane. Up close you can see loops, honeycomb knit, and zones of varying densities. It is blatantly clear that there is expertise behind these Scrambler.

How did they react out in the field test? We used them for weeks and weeks on all types of terrain and sporting endeavors. We had complete satisfaction. They are supple, thin, easy to put on, even if your skin is damp (in triathlon for example when in transition from water to bike). The fabric is stretchy and keeps its shape without feeling tight. It is not a compression sock.

Comfort is optimal in all areas, you completely forget you are wearing them. The only area we could raise a murmur is around the toes. There is flat stitching that you can feel at the external edge (left and right). You just need to make sure the sock is well-positioned to avoid any rubbing. The only other contention is the tiny loops inside, if you haven’t carefully cut your toe nails you can catch them in the loops, and pull a thread.

The Scrambler are thin socks, ideal for summer conditions, so not really warm for colder periods. They have high breathability and precise touch: no thickness at the heel or forefoot. The only limits would concern types of minimalist trail running shoes where a lack of foam padding may cause extra wear and tear to the socks due to a lack of protection, likewise with some bike shoes.

We didn’t notice any rubbing or hot-spots whilst running. They are quick drying and multiple washing didn’t damage the socks.

The Scrambler by La Chaussette de France is a very well-designed product, ultra-comfy, thin and light for outdoor sports. Excellent value for money.
