We were able to test this ski insulation jacket in the challenging conditions of early December. We paired it with the black Colmar ski pants for men.
The first observation when wearing this Colmar down jacket for the first time: the volume is truly impressive. It is filled with a Comfortemp Down Feel 300-gram synthetic fiber insulation, not down. This insulation is super thick, giving the sensation of being surrounded by a duvet. The first result: it’s difficult to feel cold! A product for those who are sensitive to the cold and don’t want to sacrifice style. The insulation is distributed throughout the jacket without any thermal bridges, providing a unique sensation.
Another feature that the Colmar jacket offers is its stretch effect, compensating for the very voluminous nature of the down jacket, especially in the arms. The elastic effect improves the range of motion.
While the insulation used is not very sensitive to moisture, it’s advisable not to linger too long in heavy rain as this jacket is more focused on insulation than waterproofing. Nevertheless, it is designed around a 15,000 Schmerbers membrane, providing effective protection against wet conditions such as light rain and wet snow. If the precipitation lasts too long, the jacket starts to absorb water. Its water-repellent effect is in line with this type of product.
Overall, comfort has been particularly well taken care of with the use of cozy materials. The wrist area is very pleasant against the skin. The neck protection is good, and the waterproof zipper is easy to handle, even with gloves. The interior of the jacket is also well-designed with an effective snow skirt and two zippered pockets. Style is an integral part of this Colmar down jacket, following the brand’s trend of combining design with technical features.
An excellent blend of a protective (membrane-lined) jacket and insulation. With the Colmar down jacket, you’re buying one jacket instead of two. Its style also allows for wearing it in urban settings.
