We had the opportunity to thoroughly test the Demetz Mud sunglasses, which offer good value for money. Another strong point is their versatility: thanks to their shape and optical category, they can be used for many outdoor sports — mountain biking, trail running, hiking, cross-country skiing, and more. For road cycling, although the Demetz Mud lenses are fairly wraparound, the general trend is toward larger screens that offer better wind protection. Demetz also offers this type of product specifically designed for cycling.
The Demetz Mud is comfortable to wear, with a measured weight of just 34 grams. It fits well under a helmet and stays securely in place, even when sweating. Depending on face shape, some testers would have preferred a slightly tighter fit at the temples, as the arms are quite flexible.
The Demetz Mud feels robust. Its design is somewhat bulky and a bit dated, but it conveys a solid, durable impression.
The category 3 polycarbonate lenses provide a slightly deepened color perception. Details remain sharp, and there’s no distortion around the edges. Sunlight filtering is effective, and protection was rated as very good. Another positive feature is the oleophobic coating, which resists grease and smudges.
The sunglasses come with a high-quality semi-rigid case, though no cleaning cloth is included.
