Let’s say it straight away: this is an excellent women’s ski, intended for good level female skiers. It is very well designed, balanced, and it gives substance underfoot, yet you don’t feel its weight (excellent weight distribution). It is great fun carving in practically all types of turns.
This Dynastar Elite 8 has a really exciting turn; it’s very soft and progressive. The more you push, the more you can go for extreme angulations without stalling. Experienced skiers will also enjoy this enthusiastic ski. You feel that the pressure transfer is solid.
It has a very well-adjusted progressive flex, combining stiffness and softness in the tail. When you lean backwards the tail doesn’t block, it adapts to the turn. With a little bit of skill, you can vary the turn radius from a short to a wide turn. You can really move your weight around on the ski. If you really lean forward, you can even do short, sharp turns. It’s so much fun carving and skidding turns, you don’t need an instruction manual. Despite its narrow waist (75 mm) it lies flat.
We looked for noise at high speed: it chatters a little at the tip but nothing that affects its skiability: the sidecut is respected and its behaviour doesn’t deteriorate.
The solid top sheet is superb and also makes carrying the skis with gloves easy even if the ski is wet. The tails have elastomer to absorb shocks when you bang them vertically. The glide is excellent. It’s a shame you can see the metal tip screws under the ski base.
You need to load the ski when straight-lining because the ski is nevertheless very “carving” focused.
An excellent product that deserves the FIRST Award. A very pleasant women’s piste ski that combines versatile performance with accessibility. Excellent grip.
