It’s simple: at this listed price, you can get two pairs of Evadict MT 2 for one compared with a “big” brand.
Do you miss out on anything? After field testing, the answer is clearly no. We can certainly point out that this Evadict product has not yet switched to seamless manufacturing but for the rest, we have no complaints, you have everything.
We start with the Evadict MT 2’s ability to overcome technical, tricky and slippery terrain. Its sole has a powerful grip, the term “tractor” came up several times in the comments. This sole which does not clog up with mud is also very convincing on rocks and slabs. The grip is reliable. The downside: it doesn’t grip that well on wet limestone but, to be fair, very few shoes are capable of doing it in these conditions.
The heel area is wide and ensures a solid foot strike. We compared its rating with other trail shoes: it is more than a centimeter wider compared to a Salomon, for example.
In any case, you benefit from powerful traction going uphill and, on the downhill, you don’t have to worry, especially as the cushioning manages shocks and rocky surfaces well. The foot is well supported thanks to a good and comfortable foot envelopment. Personally, we would’ve liked the ankle area to have been a little tighter to hold the heel better. Comfort foams are present and fulfill their mission well around the ankle. Important: they do soak up water, so avoid jumping in puddles.
We were won over by the sole design, which has balanced cushioning between the front and rear of the foot. It filters but not over the top. It allows you to attack without hurting your knee joints and back while also feeling the terrain: you don’t lose much in precision and especially in bounce.
About this, the Evadict MT 2 is not at all an inert shoe, it has a little bit of pep, which makes you want to accelerate and the 8mm drop helps you in your stride, and perfect for long distances.
Evadict lists greater flexibility and are lighter for this 2nd MT version 2. It is fluid and respects your foot’s movements, including on cross-sloping terrain (proprioception is not bothered). They are 40g lighter per shoe, we weighed the test shoe in size 45.5, to 310g, which is pretty good when you consider the reinforcements and the aggressive sole.
It is easy to put on, the shoe opens wide and the laces slide easily over half of the instep. The surplus is stored in a pocket on the tongue. The pocket could’ve done with having stronger elastic. In the end, the laces are tidy and don’t move. The tongue is also held in place, no complaints here. We quickly cut the many labels off that are sewn onto the tongue.
The forefoot is very well protected as is the heel area.
This Evadict MT 2 logically wins the Hot Deal Award from Test4outside.com. Designed for technical trail running, possibly for ultra-distances, it offers convincing benefits: powerful grip, well-balanced cushioning, comfort, low weight… and of course, an unbeatable price.
