Helly Hansen Verglas Infinity Shell Jacket 2.0 – Outdoor Protection Jacket Review
Designed for hiking, mountaineering, and ski touring, the Helly Hansen Verglas Infinity Shell Jacket 2.0 offers an impressive level of waterproof protection — although unfortunately, it lacks waterproof underarm zips, opting instead for standard zippers with flaps. A bit of a letdown, as this jacket was close to perfection.
The weight-to-durability ratio is excellent. This isn’t the kind of shell you leave behind because it’s too heavy or too stiff. While not ultralight, it offers solid resistance to abrasion and wear. The fabric also moves well with the body, providing good comfort — though it does produce a slight rustling sound.
The jacket’s cut is well designed to accommodate layering and a helmet. Without a helmet, the hood still holds its shape and doesn’t fall too far over the eyes.
We particularly appreciated the neck and lower face protection, which is excellent. The pockets are positioned high, sitting above where a climbing harness would be. The cuff Velcro straps are strong, and remain functional even in snowy conditions.
This is a very good, versatile protective shell — highly waterproof and lightweight. It nearly earned a First Award, falling just short due to the lack of waterproof pit zips, which would have pushed it into top-tier performance.
