The K2 Cortex 130 Zonal Boa belongs to the new generation of alpine ski boots equipped with a Boa closure system on the cuff. Traditional buckles are replaced by two H+i1 dials, which are easy to handle even with gloves and provide a solid, non-slip grip.
Getting your foot in is noticeably easier thanks to an ingenious mechanism that releases the cable, allowing the cuff to open wide and free both sides of the shell. Once the cable loop is reattached, simply turn the dial to tighten or loosen the fit. The closure is powerful—don’t overtighten at first—and exceptionally precise. While it’s not necessarily faster to adjust than traditional buckles, the Boa system offers a clear improvement in pressure distribution across the foot. The wrap is firm and even. To remove the boot, just pull up on the dials to disengage them.
After several seasons of using alpine boots with Boa systems, we can confirm that both the cable and dials are highly durable. The benefits of Boa are real and measurable: precision, comfort, and a more uniform hold.
The fit of the K2 Cortex 130 Zonal Boa is snug and performance-oriented. Foot retention is firm, perfectly suited for advanced skiers who ski fast and apply strong pressure to their boots.
This is a fairly heavy boot, and—as often with K2—there’s some noise when walking. The build quality is excellent, though, and it’s positioned at the high end of the market. It comes with an additional set of GripWalk soles.
