K2 Mindbender 89Ti

The K2 Mindbender 89Ti is a true all-mountain freeride versatile ski that can handle anything, without hesitation, an excellent ski.

We tested it in 182 centimeters, a significant length, coupled with some weight. No doubts, this K2 Mindbender 89Ti has substance. You’d think you’re dealing with a rather dominant and firmly grounded ski… Not at all, it pivots extremely easily thanks to its two rockers. It turns effortlessly, almost on the spot. You don’t need to seek out pressure points, manage your angulation very precisely; you just lean a bit, give it a bit of steering, and the ski immediately turns flat, or even on edge.

The K2 Mindbender 89Ti is a very interesting ski because it allows you to go everywhere in challenging snow conditions, especially in slush. Its behavior is very pleasant. It’s wide at the front, with a tip that works well and quickly enters the turn, so you’re never stuck on the heel. The well-designed flex, supported by a relevant sidecut, means that it turns very easily both in front and behind. There’s nothing that hinders it.

However, underfoot, the K2 Mindbender 89Ti has energy. When carving, it’s a ski that accelerates, that starts to unroll. Pressure on the edge is obtained quite easily: you find the power underfoot even if it’s not ultra-solid. You need to ski it precisely for it to grip very strongly. At first, you might hesitate to throw your feet to the side, but on fairly long radii, it responds well, and ultimately, you discover a grippy ski.

A very strong skier quickly finds its limits, but for others, it holds the edge pretty well on hard snow. You still need to manage the curve rollout for maximum efficiency, in a classic way: come forward, place yourself in the middle, then on the heel. You need to ski it smartly, but that doesn’t mean you’re struggling because it’s not a physical ski, it doesn’t send much feedback to the legs. It filters a lot, and it’s very pleasant. Skidded/slipped turns are very smooth. A friendly ski.

The K2 Mindbender 89Ti makes a characteristic noise on hard snow at the front, the tip vibrates a lot. The rocker zone absorbs, and ultimately the K2 Mindbender 89Ti filters well.

A well-finished ski with an excellent top sheet, as on the entire K2 range. It’s really durable.

This K2 Mindbender 89Ti is a true versatile ski, very easy, perhaps a bit limited in performance, but you shouldn’t overlook this good product. Highly recommended for skiing everywhere without hesitation off-piste and on groomed snow.
