With the Kiprun Cushion 500, it’s hard not to think of the Asics Gel-Nimbus: a comfortable shoe with solid cushioning, perfect for everyday runs.
The Kiprun Cushion 500 has that easy-to-run-in, “forgettable” feel — in the best way possible. It’s light on the foot and comes at a rock-bottom price of €70, which is simply unbeatable.
It’s also very well made, with quality finishes. The materials are generally high-grade, with the exception of the eyelet area, which feels a bit lower in perceived quality. Still, at this price, you won’t find anything better — especially considering the Kiprun Cushion 500 doesn’t compromise on performance.
On the run, it delivers a pleasant experience with just the right amount of cushioning. More advanced runners, or those with a midfoot or forefoot strike, will appreciate being able to engage the forefoot for better energy return. Of course, this isn’t a racing shoe — don’t expect aggressive forward propulsion or a responsive midsole. At 300 grams in size EU 43, the weight is on par with other shoes in the same category.
Foot lockdown is solid, striking a nice balance between forefoot precision and heel comfort.
The flat laces need a bit of attention to dial in the fit at the front. Also, the tongue label can be bothersome and may need to be trimmed off.
All in all, it’s a great road running shoe at an unbeatable price — ideal for beginners or for daily training without breaking the bank.
