General enthusiasm for the stunning La Sportiva Prodigio Pro, which adopts the design codes and technical solutions of today’s trail running shoes—and improves on them. We’ve found our go-to shoe for the 2025 trail running season! The La Sportiva Prodigio Pro earns the First Test4outside Award.
As for the technical features, the ones chosen here work brilliantly. In no particular order: the knitted ankle collar hugs the leg tightly, letting nothing in—not a twig, not a tiny pebble.
The ribbed tongue running lengthwise is a textbook example of how it should be: cushioned, stable, and extremely comfortable.
The toe bumper is spot-on—rigid enough to protect, yet flexible enough to avoid creating pressure points at the front of the shoe.
The mesh is durable, and the shoe remains lightweight: 265 grams in size EU 42.5.
But above all, it’s the dynamic performance of the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro that stands out. What a joy to run in! The toe rocker provides excellent propulsion, and the midsole offers great energy return. It filters ground feedback effectively—you feel the trail, but never at the expense of stability. The shoe feels solid, secure on technical terrain, high-performing, comfortable, and snugly wrapped around the foot.
Grip isn’t the most aggressive out there, but it’s more than adequate for most types of terrain. It loses some ground in very muddy conditions.
Running in the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro is a real pleasure. It brings together all the technical solutions we love, with outstanding dynamic performance. A well-deserved First Award—no debate needed.
