The Rossignol Alpineer are the lightest skis in the Blackops range, they are stated as freerando/touring program. They are light skis weighing in at 2520g for the 176cm length skis.
What we noticed first is that you mustn’t take a size too short because they have great skiability. Their flat pivoting qualities are undeniable! This is complemented with excellent stability and a certain sense of ease in difficult snow. The testers also appreciated their fluidity and agility, which is quite surprising given their width size, you would expect a less easy and efficient ski: you really have the impression that the skis are.
The Rossignol Blackops Alpineer’s tips play their role marvelously. They don’t chatter at all and the skis let you accelerate in deep or irregular snow. Exploring the slopes with these are a real pleasure. They don’t get tired at all. When you ski faster, they flip onto the edges without any worries. In the turns you clearly feel the skis presence the entire length without being annoying or tiring. The Rossignol Blackops Alpineer are lively without putting you in a tight spot. You can ski on your heels leaning back a little and they remain present but not overly so. Some described their effects as “solid” and very “interesting”.
On pistes the Rossignol Blackops Alpineer’s limit is found on steep slopes on very hard snow. They lose their grip. The Alpineer are light and this light structure produces contact breaks between the edges and tips on the snow. You find them difficult to control. They oversteer on packed snow. By pressing down on the tips, you can play with this, provided you have a little skill and presence. These Rossignol Blackops Alpineer are reliable and very recommendable skis for the main uses they’re required for. Overall, they behave brilliantly, are versatile and suitable for a very wide range of skiers.
At high speed on soft snow you get a lot of enjoyment in the turns, they are stable. The Rossignol Blackops Alpineer just require a little balance, technique, and physical effort.
On steep slopes, the edge stability and skidding quality are really reassuring. Because they are light underfoot the Alpineer can be easily lifted and swiveled. When you land back down on the snow, the skis’ contact after the jumped turn on the slope is perfect. You don’t need any rebalancing. He is present but it is not crippling.
These very fluid Rossignol Blackops Alpineer are easy to pivot and are very good freerando skis in ungroomed snow. Even they aren’t very wide, the Alpineer are efficient, solid: they certainly gave a lot of satisfaction to most skiers.
