In line with Salomon’s “Gravel” mindset applied to trail running, the DRX Defy GRVL offers a solid dose of versatility—built for both road and trail use. It’s a hybrid shoe that bridges two worlds, so don’t expect top-tier performance in either category. Instead, it’s a fun, exploratory shoe designed for enjoyment and discovery. And best of all, there’s no need to own two pairs—for most situations, the Salomon DRX Defy GRVL does the job just fine.
Its moderate but effective grip makes it easy to leave the pavement and venture onto dirt paths and trails. On the road, it provides solid cushioning and a sole with decent energy return, making it suitable for longer distances. The shoe is both stable and cushioned, with well-balanced ground feel. It delivers an enjoyable ride—lightweight, responsive, and without feeling too high off the ground.
Lacing requires a bit of attention to get the pressure just right; it may take a second try to fine-tune the fit. The midfoot hold could be a little more precise, and the tongue has a tendency to shift to the side. Still, the DRX Defy GRVL stays true to its purpose as a fun, no-pressure shoe—not built for performance but for pleasure.
The forefoot is protected from light impacts, and there are no visible seams, which adds to comfort.
A fun, versatile shoe built to explore both road running and trail—with a true “Gravel” spirit. One pair to do it all.
