The Salomon Xmax 8 has acclaimed simplicity! Designed for intermediate skiers who aren’t looking for ultra performance but who just want an easy ski, this is it. You can do everything easily but the performance level is limited due to the deformation of the structure of the ski when you put too much pressure on it.
The tip vibrates and at high speed you can’t go faster than 60/70 km/h. It could grip better on hard snow. If you use too much pressure you lose stability. Its torsional stiffness is limited. For someone who wants to refine his carving technique this ski is a perfect tool. It enables a wide variety of arc radiuses and allows you to try different fore and aft body positions. You can get away with little mistakes.
It’s a straight edged ski. The ski-tip has a metal protection without adding inertia to the ski and gives it a technical edge. It is lightweight, better slightly longer for better skiers or heftier skiers. We really liked its rapid switch from edge to edge (73mm waist). The quality perceived is good. This is a pleasurable ski that doesn’t tire out your legs, to enjoy carving with ease.
