The Innov8 Trailtalon 290 V2 is designed for long runs, even ultras. The brand has focused on foot comfort with a spacious toe box, and mesh that allows you to spread your toes. The tongue is wide and thick, and this comfort you notice immediately.

As far as precision goes, the Innov8 Trailtalon 290 V2 has lateral semi-rigid plastic tightening. The support and envelopment in this zone are efficient and we didn’t notice any pressure points or friction zones due to these tensors.

Although, we would’ve liked a little more heel grip. The shoe’s shape isn’t very narrow at the rear, even visually with its rounded design. You lose precision in this area.

Lacing up is quick and powerful. The laces stay in place, we didn’t need to do a double knot. Is this due to the technical choice of using tensors, the last eyelet doesn’t go down very far towards the forefoot.

The sole is on target in technical terrain. It doesn’t clog up with mud, the lugs are a good combination between grippy and runnable profile. So, you have a sole that adapts to many different conditions. The stride is good with standard dynamism. It has a 8mmm drop.

The main characteristic of this sole is its cushioning. It is well balanced between filtration and precision. You do have contact with the terrain, particularly at the forefoot, which has less filtration.

You have lateral torsion; the first third of the Innov8 Trailtalon 290 V2 is pretty flexible. In this area the shoe filters most uneven surfaces, except very sharp stones.

The whole of the foot is protected, flexible stone guards provide good reinforcements on the side to protect you from knocks and preserve the mesh.

We weighed the Innov8 Trailtalon 290 V2 at 320g in size 42.5. Even if its weight is standard for this type if product that is reinforced for tough terrain, it would be nice to see them under the 300g mark.
