The G3 Synapse One Hundred is a carbon ski, which goes unnoticed hidden under its topsheet until you slip them on and you realize how light they are. This weightlessness is such a pleasure on the uphill climbs you use less energy, also when carrying them on your pack. But on the downhill they can feel a bit unstable at the front of the ski. The tip moves around and has trouble staying in a flowing line.
The front of the ski vibrates a lot and on hard snow there is even less precision, the skis can converge if you’re not careful. You steer the G3 in an upright position by pivoting. As soon as you start loading it or are a bit too aggressive it bends out of shape at the front. The carbon design gives a lively ski but limits its performance. You can’t ski at high speed. You have to hold back. The grip isn’t mega powerful and it doesn’t flow well in the turns, it grips then slides when you are leaning into the edge. It behaves much better in steering turns at an average speed.
A lightweight ski for ski touring bindings and to travel at reduced speeds carrying a backpack. Its strong point is its ability to pivot easily. The ski turns on a dime thanks to its how light it is. You need to stay focused to make a good fall line. The ski has a tough finish and puts up with being battered by the edges. It glides well in powder. The metal binding insert from G3 is super well designed. Stamped Made in China.
