The Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell 2.0 pant, tested with the Helly Hansen Odin Infinity Insulated jacket, is close to perfection. We even awarded it with the Test4outside.com FIRST Award.
Let’s get rid of the two details that could be further improved: the flies zip, which is not waterproof (but covered with a large flap) and the press studs here, which could be a little more powerful or kitted with a bit of Velcro like the RAB Khroma Volition Gore-Tex pant.
For the rest, it’s flawless!
These Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell 2.0 pants’ main quality is its toughness. Helly Hansen designed this product for people who ski more than a hundred days a year, that’s good, that’s us! All the materials are top quality, the wear and tear points are reinforced (even the bottom of the pants equipped with a braid), the seams and the assemblies are meticulously carried out. You feel like you’re skiing with indestructible trousers, you can attack in the bushes in the forest, etc. without a care in the world.
The zips are waterproof, strong, insensitive to UV, and kitted with large end caps so you can grab them with your gloves on. The reinforcements at the base against ski-edge knocks are impressive.
The Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell 2.0 pants design is very well studied, you don’t feel any stiffness, except at the reinforced pocket designed for the DVA on the right thigh. A curious location when you are used to wearing it on your chest, under your jacket.
Usually, where ski pants can pinch is at the waist. Here, this area has been dealt with intelligently, and with care. Firstly, the pants hold on the hips. The two Velcro adjustments modify the tension, and you can add a belt (not supplied) in the belt loops, or suspenders. Secondly, the pants go up high enough over the kidneys and avoid cold air sneaking in.
There are large openings for ventilation on either side of the thighs. It has a Recco system.
There’s an interesting detail below the knees, you feel a little cooler because the fabric has a single layer in this zone, unlike knees with reinforcements or thighs that have pockets.
There’s no doubt that this Helly Hansen Elevation Infinity Shell 2.0 pant is one of the strongest pants on the market. Very well designed, both in terms of cut and fabrics, and deserves 100% the Test4outside.com FIRST Award.
