A ski with a very minimal tail, almost pintail-like. At first glance, one might wonder if it can hold the turn, drive an effect to unfold. Regarding the turn entry, there is no room for doubt as the Nordica Belle DC 72 has a very wide and well-designed tip, complemented by a nice metallic tip. However, despite the less prominent tail, the Nordica Belle DC 72 does not pose any issues in that regard; unless there is a significant rear imbalance, the ski behaves very well. It has a long edge length, is quite balanced, and energized at the rear, compensating for its slim shape in this area. This minimized tail does not hinder it in any way; even if one is not in an optimal position, with slight rear imbalances, the ski does not oversteer, and the tail remains stable. Nonetheless, it is a ski designed to facilitate pivoting, suitable for an intermediate skier seeking ease and immediate solutions for turn execution. The turn completion is almost automatic and instantaneous. Nevertheless, the Nordica Belle DC 72 is not excessively oversteering; its effects are quite gradual.
We greatly liked this ski, which perfectly matches the needs and desires of an average skier looking for a user-friendly ski that can also carve. It is easy to find the edge, transitioning seamlessly from skidding to carving. The ski performs consistently in all conditions. It holds well in a direct line, not slipping too much. The tip taps a bit at very high speeds, but the Nordica Belle DC 72 remains entirely manageable and suitable for “classic” speeds for this type of skiing.
For short turns, on hard snow with carved edges, it performs well. Its maneuverability declines when extending the turn and tackling very steep slopes. It becomes more challenging to engage, and if you pick up speed, you’ll notice a slight lack of substance underfoot, causing some searching. However, a skier with a smaller build who doesn’t exert very strong pressure on the edges copes well with the Nordica Belle DC 72.
For drifting and carving effects, it’s better to put some pressure into the turn to facilitate its grip. Of course, you can add angulation to make the Nordica Belle DC 72 smoothly unfold the curve. Otherwise, the ski is a bit hesitant, less solid underfoot, and confidence is compromised if you don’t load the ski.
A very good ski for the average skier. A product that can take you quite far in skill progression. It’s accommodating, very pleasant, and reliable. It guides you towards a higher level. It has earned a FIRST Test4outside.com award.
