Dynastar M CROSS Konect 88

We really liked the Dynastar M CROSS Konect 88. It is well-crafted, with transparent effects using fiber. The marbled effect and the presence of selective varnish are also noteworthy. The brand has put a real effort into the finishing touches.

On the snow, its skiability is genuinely interesting for an all-mountain ski. It enters the curve well and easily. It makes a very characteristic sound on hard snow, as if it’s a bit hollow. It’s just an impression because the ski is not hollow at all, even though there’s a lot of movement in the front. Its pronounced rocker contributes to lifting the tip area. As a result, the Dynastar M CROSS Konect 88 absorbs bumps and doesn’t transmit much feedback to the legs.

A tip: when skiing at high speeds, instead of traditionally leaning forward to try to stabilize the somewhat volatile tip, it’s better to manage from the heel. This way, you’ll find more support on the edge, allowing for angulation or skidding. It’s a ski that works very well, stable.

You can make small carved turns with varying radii. The bonus: you can really lengthen the curve. In a direct line, it tends to slip a bit because it’s lively in the front area; you need to keep an eye on it (on the other hand, it absorbs, which is quite interesting).

We couldn’t ski it on very hard snow to verify its capabilities in pronounced angulation by throwing the feet quite far on each side. It’s not a huge carver, but for an all-mountain ski, it’s very satisfying. It’s easy to pivot. On groomed snow, at (very) high speeds, confidence tends to waver a bit. Sliding/drifting turns are easily achieved.

There’s a contrast between the relaxed front of the ski and the underfoot section that has good energy, a strong presence. It’s a good mix, with a well-tuned flex.

Unlike some other skis, the Dynastar M CROSS Konect 88 has metal tips directly integrated into the structure, another (very) good point.

A very versatile ski, suitable for both on-piste and off-piste skiing. A reliable choice.
