The Salomon Sentry Prime Sigma Photochromic ski goggles come with two interchangeable lenses, featuring magnetic attachments.
Overall, Salomon, along with its subcontractor (as the Amer group brand does not produce goggles), has made a real effort by offering a well-designed package. Indeed, when you open the box (which has some weight to it), you discover a superb semi-rigid protective case, imposing yet effective. In addition to the standard textile case, there is also a protective cover that clips onto the goggles when worn with a helmet: perfect.
The lens changing system is practical and well-designed. Simply pull laterally to detach the lens, and the magnets release. Attaching the other lens is child’s play. As is often the case with these types of attachments, there may be some squeaking or small plastic noises when adjusting the tension of the goggle strap on the face.
The triple row of foam padding is truly comfortable, a delight.
Now, let’s talk about optical quality, which is the primary criterion for choosing goggles. One immediately notices a large number of reflections in the goggles. The sun filtration is good, and the orange lens for bad weather was appreciated, although it also has many reflections. Visibility on white days is effective.
The strap is equipped with a single line of silicone to prevent slipping on the helmet; it would have been better to have two lines rather than a single wide one as it is now.
A mask with two interchangeable lenses easily thanks to a magnetic system. Kudos for the multiple lens protections. One downside is the internal reflections of the goggles.
These goggles were tested with the Salomon Brigade Mips helmet, which we also had for testing.
