Kästle TX 88

FIRST

The Kästle TX 88 is a true all-rounder, capable of handling any terrain without hesitation. It effortlessly handles less supportive snow and performs well on hard surfaces. It offers satisfactory grip and turning capabilities.

Regardless of speed, stability is always present. The transition through turns is well-balanced, meaning the ski doesn’t force the skier too much into the turn. You can always maintain control and adjust the turn radius, whether opening up the curve or tightening it. Even though its stated radius of 15.5 meters might suggest it’s better suited for shorter turns, the Kästle TX 88 is quite versatile in this area. Depending on your stance and the pressure applied, it adapts easily.

Avoid over-exaggerating edge angles, as the tail is already quite engaged and assists the skier. It’s best skied in a centered position, from where you can shape the turns you want. At any moment, you can perform sliding or drifting turns.

The 88mm width allows for quick edge-to-edge transitions. You can easily play with small turns or extend the curve; all these movements feel very stable and controlled. On steeper terrain, it retains its stability and security.

The Kästle TX 88 is a comfortable ski. We skied through avalanche cones, and the ski didn’t transfer impacts to the legs.

A skilled skier can push it hard, going fast on any terrain. It’s easy to ski even with a backpack, as the tail is energetic without being overwhelming.

The design is very understated. The beautiful Kästle tip has material removed and replaced with a translucent plate to reduce weight and minimize inertia. The tip is stable and solid, not fickle. One might almost consider the Kästle TX 88 for an all-mountain program.

Perfectly suited to its intended use, it’s a pleasure to ski, offering an excellent balance of performance and weight. Fluid, grippy, and secure. It’s aimed at a broad audience. Award First Test.
