We were able to test the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Pants along with the matching technical base layer. Both pieces form a cohesive set in terms of both technicality and design.
These X-Bionic pants follow the same approach as the top: both technical and featuring well-balanced compression. The fit is very well-designed, conforming to the muscle shapes without causing any discomfort. The comfort is top-notch, even though the compression is noticeable at the thighs and calves.
As with the X-Bionic top, it’s difficult to quantify the recovery benefit from the compression. The X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Pants is, in any case, very pleasant to wear. It moves with the body and is easy to forget you’re wearing it.
Putting it on requires a bit of attention to get past the heels and adjust it along the legs. The waistband is very well-designed, comfortable, and not too thick. Most importantly, the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Pants stays in place.
It’s resistant to wear, doesn’t pill, and effectively manages odors, as well as the potential buildup of sweat. It dries quickly.
We wondered if it might benefit from being a little shorter to avoid overlapping with the top of the socks and prevent extra thickness on the shin. However, when positioned correctly, the X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Pants doesn’t create any folds in this area.
We appreciated the “front” indication, which helps avoid mistakes when putting it on. It’s a unisex product.
The X-Bionic Energy Accumulator Wild Pants is warm without being excessive. Worn under a shell pant, it covers most winter situations. During extreme cold, we added a fleece-lined ski short over it.
An excellent first layer for skiing—durable, technical, and very well-designed. Warm, but not too much. A well-deserved First Test4outside award.
