The new Scott Supertrac RC 3 is unmistakably a racing shoe.
First, there’s the lightweight build—just 245 grams in size 42.5. Then, there’s the sharp, race-focused design: a snug fit that hugs the foot, and a narrow forefoot that offers millimeter-precise foot placement.
From the very first strides, you notice how low to the ground the foot sits, delivering a high level of precision—a real asset on technical sections of a SkyRunning-style course, for example. Ground feel and proprioception are excellent, though torsional rigidity is quite low.
There is some cushioning, but this Scott Supertrac RC 3 is undeniably demanding. It performs best when run on the forefoot, and really shines when handled by runners with refined technique—those who bring lightness, precision, and control.
With a 4.5 mm drop (yes, that precise!), and a flat foot platform (there’s very little rocker), heel strikers will need to actively push off to get the best out of it. More technical runners, on the other hand, will enjoy a shoe that’s ultra-light, agile, and fast. That said, its high-traction outsole clearly marks it as a shoe built for technical terrain.
The Matryx mesh upper is durable and breathable, the toe bumper is highly protective, and the lacing system is solid. During the first few kilometers, some runners may feel a slight discomfort at the forefoot flex point, though this sensation tends to fade quickly.
A no-compromise, high-performance racing shoe for technical terrain. Awarded the Core Award by Test4outside.
