We recently tested the Scott Pursuit Gravel, a truly versatile shoe that perfectly embodies the new “Gravel” spirit — a blend of road comfort and off-road adventure.
Versatility is clearly the keyword here. This is a shoe designed to do it all — from mixed-terrain runs to casual city use, thanks to its stylish and approachable design.
Let’s start with its on-the-run performance. We appreciated its great stability, despite a 9 mm drop. Ground contact feels clean and precise, with a broad heel platform that adds security on uneven surfaces. The cushioning is relatively firm at first, offering a solid feel underfoot, though it does soften slightly over time.
The Scott Pursuit Gravel proves to be a very pleasant shoe for off-road running, particularly on gravel paths, tracks, and even some urban sections. However, on very hard surfaces, the cushioning feels a bit limited.
It’s clearly not a pure performance or racing shoe — its energy return is a notch below the more competition-oriented models. Still, the Pursuit Gravel stands out as a reliable partner, ready to run anywhere and anytime, except perhaps on highly technical trail terrain. Traction is solid on most surfaces.
The rock guard works well, and the heel protection and support are excellent. Build quality is serious, and the mesh upper is breathable, though the shoe can feel slightly warm in hot conditions.
Lacing is powerful and secure — it requires a bit of fine-tuning on the first few runs to get the tension just right, but once adjusted, the foot feels firmly locked in.
At 278 grams (size EU 42.5), the weight remains very reasonable for a shoe in this category.
A versatile, well-balanced shoe that delivers enjoyment across a wide range of terrains — from roads to gravel paths. Excellent ground stability and a confident ride make the Scott Pursuit Gravel a great choice for runners seeking comfort, durability, and all-surface freedom.
