You can always find cheaper fleece jackets for sports or everyday use. Entry-level models are generally best suited for occasional activity.
The higher price of premium products is justified by the precision of the cut, the quality of the materials, durability, and now the use of recycled materials as part of an eco-responsible approach. This Ayaq fleece brings all these qualities together, ensuring both comfort and, above all, performance.
It’s also worth noting that the use of Polartec Power Grid gives the Ayaq Kokanee strong thermal performance. Its raised grid structure helps reduce the weight of the jacket while increasing warmth. The air circulating between the channels improves breathability. Despite its relative thinness, you can immediately feel that the thermal efficiency is excellent. The fairly close-fitting cut is also well judged, as it follows body movements without restriction. The Polartec Power Grid fabric, made from recycled polyester, is very soft against the skin. On the outside, it is כמעט smooth and offers good resistance to abrasion. Most importantly, this Ayaq Kokanee fleece does not pill.
The neck is very well protected, without the collar being too high. A chin guard prevents the zipper from rubbing. The thumb loops are well designed and comfortable in use, with no friction or pinching between the thumb and index finger.
There is one chest pocket and two hand pockets. The overall construction is very neat, with no loose threads or poorly assembled panels.
In action, the Ayaq Kokanee provides effective protection against the cold. It works as a fairly warm mid-layer and manages moisture transfer well, moving perspiration toward outer layers. It dries quickly, and odor buildup is limited. The Ayaq Kokanee can be washed at 30°C.
At 400 grams in size M on our scale, the Ayaq Kokanee is not the lightest fleece. Instead, it focuses on efficiency, comfort, and durability.
The only criticism concerns the very small zipper pulls on the pockets. While they blend nicely into the jacket’s design, they require two hands to operate, which is not always convenient when your fingers are cold.
Overall, this is a very nice fleece jacket: a highly effective mid-layer, well cut, and offering excellent thermal performance thanks to the Polartec Power Grid fabric.
