We tested the triathlon scope, the Arena Cobra Tri Mirror (https://www.test4outside.com/produit/arena-cobra-tri-mirror/). These open water/pool goggles are sensitive to fogging.
With the Cobra Core Swipe, which also targets triathletes, Arena provides a solution to underwater vision reduction. When they get foggy, simply rub your finger across the inner surface of the Arena Cobra Core Swipe to restore vision. Very effective especially we felt that the Cobra Core Swipe was already less sensitive to fogging than the Cobra Tri Mirror. And when, after a long distance or splits, fogging begins, you remove it with a simple gesture.
Arena states this treatment lasts ten times longer than others. It is obviously difficult to verify this: it depends on how often you use them and other parameters (water temperature, swimmer). We will use them all summer and make more precise feedback on this technology.
Otherwise the goggles are lightweight, (34g) which require precise elastic tension adjustment. It’s pretty easy but it takes a few gos to find the right tension and therefore the right pressure on the eyes. Unlike Zoggs that rest on the orbit bone, the Arena Cobra Core Swipe rest on the eyes. The tension must therefore be properly adjusted or they are uncomfortable.
The seal is good once the correct setting is found. The flexible plastic (silicone?) in contact with the eyes is reasonably comfortable.
They have a very fluid bezel, we were impressed by the Arena designers.
The lenses on these goggles deal very well with light contrast, they aren’t too blue and the solar filtration allows swimming in whitewater without any problem when you breathe facing the sun. We didn’t like the image distortion at the edges of the Arena Cobra Core Swipe and the small strip at the bottom of the frame (lens angle). It’s a shame as it limits the enjoyment of the lenses’ panoramic view.
Interchangeable nose bridges are included in Arena’s box. Our product wasn’t delivered with a case, which is essential to protect the lenses getting scratched in your kit bag.
The Arena Cobra Core Swipe are a beautiful, well-designed product with a finger-activated anti-fog system.
