AtomicMaverick Ti 100

FIRST

The Atomic Maverick Ti 100 earns the First award. It’s a very balanced ski, with a smooth curve progression and solid feel underfoot. We glide with serenity and pleasure on this ski, which is classified as all-mountain, and is highly effective in off-piste conditions as well, given its dimensions: 100 millimeters underfoot and a very effective tip.

It’s a very enjoyable ski that remains fluid, very interesting because it pivots easily on all types of snow, including hardpack. With its rocker at the front and back, it’s playful, easily maneuverable without any inertia. You almost forget about it to focus on your turns… except for the tiny noise it makes at the tip. It taps a bit at high speeds but holds its ground.

Its limitation? Its grip becomes less convincing if pushed really hard, but compared to the Fisher Ranger, it remains a notch above. It holds the line a bit better while remaining equally pleasant. In any case, it plays in the same category of skis that are wide underfoot but very versatile.

Effective on piste and in off-piste, the Atomic Maverick Ti 100 has a bow-shaped tip that does a very good job: it cuts through the snow well.

It also performs well on the piste, meaning it can cut effectively with pronounced angulation. It develops very pleasant long turns in terms of sensation, which can be modified slightly.

The Atomic Maverick Ti 100 is piloted in an academic manner with pressure on the tongue and then the heel: it’s not really complicated on snow. Engage the tip and then adjust backward, otherwise, it may understeer and pull straight, which can be surprising.

Short turns on edged pressure are possible, but it’s not its forte logically. Once engaged in the curve, it’s capable of going fast while holding its ground well on piste or off-piste. It’s also comfortable in couloirs, with skidded turns. Flat skiing is really enjoyable despite the power you have underfoot.

Well-made, it’s sturdy, with a rubber heel. It’s quite heavy to carry but light on the feet. Dull design.

A very good versatile ski that we liked a lot, with very good glide. A First award without hesitation.
