Atomic positioned this ski within its Evolution Lady piste range, but the qualities of the Redster X7 go far beyond being just an “intermediate” tool for learning carved turns. In fact, this is a highly capable ski that can be pushed hard, delivering speed and edge grip even for heavier skiers.
The Redster X7 holds exceptionally well, never folding at the tip, and supports powerful accelerations. At the same time, it remains easy to pivot. It feels comfortable in skidded turns and controlled slides, with no awkward tip or tail grab on hardpack. This is not a ski that dominates the skier; instead, it invites progression toward carved skiing, allowing curves to unfold smoothly on edge for those confident in their balance.
The X7 was hugely appreciated by female testers for its skiability. The only hesitation came from its very austere design, which lacks appeal compared to the ski’s performance.
The blend of power, edge grip, stability, and accessibility is outstanding. Another big plus: there’s no tip vibration—something often felt in other Redster skis. Even at high speed, the tip remains perfectly calm, which is fantastic. Its fluidity is another strong point: the ski draws beautifully precise, effortless arcs. A real pleasure to ride.
At very high speeds, if you try to cut the radius too short, you’ll find its limit in the tail, where the ski bends a little too much, creating a hinge effect that can cause it to slip. But at “normal” speeds, performance is excellent.
Turn initiation is nearly instantaneous, despite the tip not being oversized. This shows how well the flex calibration has been tuned. A side note: a properly tuned flex is far more effective than an oversized, aggressive tip that forces the ski into a turn abruptly and unnaturally.
The only weak point is the tip finish, which doesn’t match the quality of this otherwise outstanding ski. On the practical side, the topsheet is efficient, making the skis easy to carry even with wet gloves.
In short, the Atomic Redster X7 is an excellent ski that will accompany skiers for many seasons. It allows for progression, fun, and rewarding sensations on edge. Everything here is finely balanced: exceptional glide, impeccable edge grip. Award First TEST4OUTSIDE.
