This is the kind of product people tend to like because it perfectly matches the idea of good value for money. At a time when ski and snowboard goggles are seeing a sharp rise in prices, getting a highly effective product with a reasonable budget feels like a great deal.
The Bollé Blackridge goggle is lightweight (130 grams measured on our scale) and features a wide lens with only a thin black strip around it as a frame. The field of vision is excellent. The fit on the face is both precise and comfortable. The foam, which feels fairly firm at first, softens over the course of several sessions. The dual-density design does a good job of keeping the Bollé Blackridge securely in place without causing discomfort.
The strap has articulated mounts on the frame, allowing it to adapt well to helmets. The strap adjusters slide smoothly, and adjusting the strap length is effortless.
Now for the essential part: the quality of the lens. It is a category-3 lens designed for bright, sunny days. On snow, the Bollé Blackridge provided our testers with reliable protection. Even though the lens is quite dark, it still allows you to ride comfortably when the weather is overcast. At the end of the day, when light levels drop significantly early in the season or in foggy conditions, you start to notice its limits because the lens is not photochromic. It’s worth noting that this goggle is also available with a photochromic Phantom lens.
A well-designed goggle that earns the Hot Deal award for its excellent value for money. A great look paired with strong performance.
