You know when something is good when it is systematically on top of your pile of technical clothes, ready for the next run.
The Cimalp Twin Trail established itself as our shorts of preference for all our excursions in the last few months and we have been able to validate their durability. The seams, colors (wash at 30°C), elastic bands and especially the anti-slip bands on the thighs, all held up.
These Cimalp Twin Trail shorts provide a good combination of light thigh support and very pleasant comfort. You never feel too compressed, even during uphill climbs. The pressure on the thighs is just enough and not too much. They are also very easy to put on.
The materials are soft against the skin, stretchy and breathable providing great comfort. These shorts are versatile, not necessarily for extreme temperatures, cold or hot. Perfect for classic use.
They could have better breathability between the thighs and in the lower back, but obviously at the lower back the material is thicker to hold the shorts up. There is also a pocket in this zone which multiplies the layers even more. This pocket is more practical for right-handed people (left-handed need to push the zip open).
The outer short is very light and soft. It’s aesthetic and has a more free-trail look. Not only that it has three areas where you can carry objects of choice. A left-hand pocket on the thigh can carry a soft flask, gloves, a hat, headband, etc. It doesn’t have a zip but its deep and has a flap. The right-hand pocket can carry a smartphone (big ones!), gels, etc. And the rear zipped pocket can keep your keys safe.
Cimalp also put reflective bands, the waist band cord stays in position and its flat lace is easy to use even with cold hands.
The Cimalp Twin Trail stay in position and doesn’t fall down whilst running. The inner thighs could be a little tighter. Some testers wore underwear with these shorts and had no rubbing.
They are quick drying.
Their initial price was 74.90 euros and is now at 59.90 euros on the Cimalp website.
The Cimalp Twin Trail are excellent trail running shorts. They give moderate support, very pleasant to wear and very comfortable. With practical pockets, quality manufacturing and durability are all a bonus.
