After several weeks of testing, our reviewers are left with mixed feelings about this tent. It boasts some obvious strengths, but also a few flaws that, in certain situations, can really take the shine off your bivouac experience.
The biggest highlight of the Decathlon 2 Seconds Easy Polycotton 2P is its near-instant setup and takedown system, a feature inherited from Decathlon’s iconic “2 Seconds” series. While earlier models were notoriously tricky to fold back up (a flaw since corrected), this version is a clear improvement. To pitch or fold the tent, all you have to do is activate two pull-tabs on either side of the tent — it’s incredibly simple, fast, and a real blessing when you don’t want to wrestle with tent poles at the end of the day.
We also appreciated the tent’s calm, dimly lit interior, which creates a cozy atmosphere. The interior space is generous, and the tent comes with a secondary groundsheet that we mostly used outside the entrance. Another smart detail: the door zippers are attached to cords linked to the door corner, allowing the door to open fully without having to fold or tuck it away.
The main points of debate during our testing revolved around the choice of material and the overall weight, which comes in at 6.5 kg. The polycotton fabric — a blend of polyester and cotton — gives the tent a very pleasant look and feel, with a nice sandy tone and soft touch. But this material adds weight and is not waterproof by itself. It holds up fine in light rain or brief showers, but during heavy downpours, leaks can appear.
This tent is clearly designed for close-to-home camping — which explains the weight — and is best suited for dry, summer conditions. While the fabric is water-repellent, we strongly recommend treating it regularly with a waterproofing spray to enhance its rain resistance.
Ventilation is good, and the tent stakes are solid, stored — along with all guy lines — in dedicated compartments inside the carry bag. Speaking of which, packing the tent back into the bag is easy and efficient, a real plus for a model of this size.
An extremely convenient tent in terms of setup and takedown, with a comfortable and well-designed living space. But the water-repellent fabric shows its limits in heavy rain, and the weight is significant. A great choice for short summer getaways, less so for long-distance adventures or wet weather.
