They state the Dynastar M-Pro 90 is a freeride ski, but when we used it on the piste we found that it had all the qualities of a piste ski too.
The Dynastar M-Pro 90 has quite a traditional shape with a long side cut. There is very little rocker and a progressive tip. The tail lifts very slightly which contributes to great stability at high speed.
The Dynastar M-Pro 90 grips perfectly on hardpack whatever your angle. It turns intuitively and easily. Skidding turns are natural, with this ski everything is covered. The Dynastar does need a certain level of knowledge about balance to fully exploit it. The tail isn’t very explosive but it enables you to lengthen the turn if you want to.
You can lengthen the turn, play with the radius, so you need a bit of aggression to work the ski’s flex. The tip chatters a little in chop, but not enough to be transmitted through the entire ski.
Turn initiation is practically instant, the tip when loaded up front is very good. You need a bit more skill to control the ski flat or skidding on hard snow.
It has a very sober design. It’s neatly finished and there’s a protective insert on the tip.
We also tested the Dynastar M-Pro 99, which by the way won the FIRST Award. Wider, the latter is obviously better off piste.
The Dynastar M-Pro 90 is a very good ski that behaves almost like a piste model even if it’s stated as a freeride model. Overall it requires a skier with presence but it is performant without great difficulty and has a bonus of being accessible.
