Top vote for the Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99. Let’s face it, this is not a demanding ski that needs iron legs and a steel mind. Nor is it a ski that’s limited to super-skilled freeride skiers. No, the Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99 is for the widest range of skiers possible with just as wider capabilities.
Overall, it is very versatile in all snow and terrain conditions. It responds all the time underfoot whatever the conditions may be. You feel it instantly from the first turns where they initiate the turns with ease, you don’t ever get tripped up. Entering a curve is instinctive, no need to reach for the tip, load it or strain your brain. You can carve or skid and vary. The radius at the drop of a hat.
The ride is fluid and, the icing on the cake, with the Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99 you can correct anteroposterior imbalances. The skier doesn’t get stuck because the tail and tip are quite flexible: the ski easily deforms up to a certain limit, which the designers carefully measured. Accessible and easy, the Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99 is capable of carrying pressure and energy from good freeriders who want to push it. Testers noticed at a constant faster speed that it was surprisingly close to a “real ski”. The straight edges were appreciated for their “clean” grip in all sorts of situations.
They appreciated the straight vocals which offered a hook that, again, was described as “clean” in a large number of situations.
If you push hard on the Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99 on groomed and very hard snow, you will find your limits carving. It loses luster. The same goes for liveliness on hard/icy snow.
Off-piste, its favorite terrain, it lifts out rapidly and is quick and easy to pivot, you can lengthen the curve or do the opposite and shorten it to ride through a forest, etc.
The Dynastar 99 M-Pro 99 is accessible, easy and evolves: it follows the skier’s progress. However, it isn’t just for those new freeriding. Its qualities are also suitable for an expert skier who can ski it 100%. We awarded this ski the TEST4OUTSIDE FIRST Award.
