The Haglöfs Touring Mid Jkt is a thin polar fleece layer for ski touring, trekking, rock climbing and outdoor sports. Its difference is that it’s a snug-fitting layer, at the chest and arms.
Despite its thiness, its thermal efficiency is very high, with an interesting combination of thinness, softness and protection. Of course, it isn’t windproof at all. It is made with Polartec Alpha (63% recycled Polyester) and Polartec Power Stretch (84% recycled materials), materials that are well known for their insulation, quick-drying and breathability qualities.
Testing outdoors we found this Haglöfs Touring Mid Jkt very pleasant to wear because iit doesn’t obstruct your movements and provides a lovely warm feeling without being excessive: you can stay active without sweating like a pig. And if you do sweat, you know that the jacket will dry rapidly. The Polartec Alpha doesn’t retain bad odors.
The jacket’s mapping is very logical, with warmer panels depending on the areas requiring extra heat or increased stretch. The back, arms and sides are made with smooth fabric and the chest and shoulders have a textured appearance.
The collar is enveloping and (very) sug fitting. The collar doesn’t rise up very high, which is actually very practical when you are wearing an outer protective shell.
It has a very reasonable weight: 280 g on our scales in size M.
The jacket doesn’t lose its shape after washing, it can have a little wear at the waist and in areas that are subjected to rubbing such as the harness area, but overall, it holds up really well, even the colors don’t fade.
The central zip and chest pocket zip slide well and are easy to grab even with gloves on (there’s a cord).
