Helly Hansen Loke 2.0: Lightweight Versatility for Outdoor and Urban Use
The Helly Hansen Loke 2.0 jacket is a well-designed waterproof shell that performs just as well during outdoor sports as it does on urban adventures.
It offers solid protection from wind and rain, with traditionally stitched seams that are reinforced with taped backing—ensuring excellent waterproofing even after prolonged exposure to wet conditions.
The overall waterproof performance is solid, and the fabric handles showers well. However, the absence of waterproof zippers is a slight drawback. This is likely a conscious trade-off, keeping the price accessible while prioritizing repairability.
The main front zipper is smooth and easy to operate. It’s sewn in a standard fashion, without taped seams, which makes it easy to remove and replace if needed—adding to the long-term durability of the jacket. A wide storm flap with taped backing, secured with three Velcro tabs and two snap buttons, provides effective protection against wind and water ingress.
The jacket features two large, deep side pockets that are easily accessible even with gloves on. They’re closed with zippers covered by a fabric flap. Inside, the pocket lining is made of mesh, which might be a bit fragile (watch out for sharp keys), but this choice helps keep the jacket lightweight.
Pit zips offer ventilation during high-effort activities, though breathability is limited—the jacket heats up quickly during intense movement.
The hood includes a small brim and offers enough space to wear a beanie underneath. It’s adjustable with a drawcord for a better fit.
While the cut is generally straight, the angled seam design creates a slightly tapered silhouette, offering a more feminine fit. A drawcord at the hem improves thermal sealing around the hips.
The sleeves are straight, making it easy to wear a watch or layer underneath, and they close with Velcro cuffs to adapt to gloves or bare hands and block out wind.
The Loke 2.0 comes in six color options, offering something for everyone. It’s also extremely comfortable—the fabric has a slight stretch, allowing the jacket to move well with the body.
Notably, the Loke 2.0 includes RECCO® technology in the brim—this well-known safety feature allows rescuers to locate a buried or lost person via a passive electronic reflector, especially useful in avalanche or remote rescue scenarios.
Lightweight, comfortable, and versatile, the Helly Hansen Loke 2.0 is an excellent option for hiking, trekking, or even everyday urban use—all at a budget-friendly price.
