The Inov8 TrailFly V2 is an atypical trail running shoe. Lightweight—we measured it at 280 grams in size 42.5—it stands apart from oversized models thanks to its relatively thin sole. The foot sits very close to the ground, providing excellent stability, a sensation further enhanced by the very minimal cushioning. In short, the Inov8 TrailFly V2 is a perfect candidate for Sky Race–type courses.
The feel is quite unique: you need to run with proper form to prevent the shoe from feeling harsh. Foot placement errors can quickly lead to fatigue. Forefoot runners with a light, efficient stride will appreciate this shoe, which requires precise control. In this context, it delivers excellent precision. The sole interface is never misleading—you’re in almost direct contact with the terrain.
On smoother sections, the Inov8 TrailFly V2 allows you to pick up the pace without energy loss. It offers very little forward rocker.
The outsole grip inspires confidence. According to Inov8, it has been improved compared to the first version of the TrailFly, with 4 mm lugs.
The forefoot benefits from a fairly wide toe box.
Build quality was considered solid, and the overall construction feels durable. The rock guard provides strong protection.
A very low-to-the-ground shoe with minimal cushioning and high precision—ideal for technical sections. Best suited to runners with refined running mechanics.
