According to Jetboil, the Stash is the lightest stove system the brand has ever produced. We had to put that claim to the test and see for ourselves whether this beautifully designed stove lives up to the promise.
“Impressive, astonishing and beautifully designed.” Those were the first reactions from everyone on our test team.
The moment you take the Stash out of the box, its weight is what immediately stands out. We measured it at 229 g (8.1 oz), including the cooking pot, burner and fuel canister stabilizer. Add a 100 g gas canister, and the complete cooking system weighs just 329 g (11.6 oz). It’s almost reminiscent of the capsule gadgets Bulma used in Dragon Ball.
The Jetboil Stash arrives fully packed in its transport configuration, with every component neatly stored inside the pot.
Packed dimensions are 11.2 × 13 cm (4.4 × 5.1 in). In reality, it’s even slightly smaller, as these measurements include the folding pot handle and the lid tab.
Inside the pot you’ll find the burner, the fuel canister stabilizer and a 100 g gas canister. There’s even enough room left to tuck away a lighter and a few tea bags.
To fit everything back inside correctly, you’ll need to follow the packing instructions printed on the side of the pot. Once you’ve done it a couple of times, the process quickly becomes second nature.
The lid features a practical pouring spout and a small silicone tab that allows you to remove it without burning your fingers. On the underside of the lid, a moulded recess securely holds the gas canister in place using three retaining tabs. It’s an ingenious design that keeps everything perfectly organized. A clever trick is to store your lighter or matches in the concave base of the gas canister to make the most of the available space.
The burner is a perfect example of minimalist engineering. Weighing just 60 g (2.1 oz), it is exceptionally light yet remarkably effective. Three serrated folding pot supports provide a secure platform for the Stash cooking pot while folding away compactly for storage. A precise flame control valve allows for easy adjustment of the heat output.
To prevent scratches inside the pot, the burner stores in its own protective pouch—a simple but thoughtful detail. The only feature we found missing is a built-in piezo igniter, which would make an excellent addition in a future version of the Stash.
The hard plastic fuel canister stabilizer also folds flat for transport. Each leg is fitted with a non-slip foot, providing excellent stability once deployed. The canister clips securely into shaped recesses on the stabilizer, creating a solid base. It is compatible with both 100 g and 230 g threaded gas canisters.
Once everything has been packed away inside the pot, the folding handle locks over the lid to keep the entire system securely closed during transport.
When it comes to technology and reliability, Jetboil’s reputation is already well established. One useful tip: carrying a small sheet of aluminium foil (along with those tea bags) provides an effective makeshift windscreen if weather conditions deteriorate.
Like other Jetboil systems, the Stash incorporates FluxRing® technology. The finned heat exchanger beneath the pot dramatically increases the heating surface, improving fuel efficiency and reducing boil times compared with conventional backpacking stoves.
At this level of weight savings and performance, it’s genuinely difficult to find any real drawbacks. The Jetboil Stash is simply a pleasure to use. Whether carried deep in your pack for mountain adventures, as an emergency hot-drink solution in poor weather, or during fast-and-light outings where every gram matters, it earns its place without question.
The Jetboil Stash received our First Award without hesitation. It is quite simply the benchmark in its class.
