The Julbo Lightwear OTG goggles feature a very interesting trick for freeriders. During ascent, to prevent fogging inside the goggles, you can pull the lens forward, and it separates from the frame: air can then flow more easily inside and ventilate the goggles. The operation is relatively easy, even with thin gloves. However, caution should be taken not to touch the lens when reattaching it for descent.
The Julbo Lightwear OTG goggles can also accommodate prescription glasses (thin ones).
The rounded lens is superb; we tested it with a Reactiv 2-3 Glare Control lens. Reflections are less pronounced (slightly more persistent when the lens is in “ventilation” mode), contrasts are enhanced, and details are well preserved (effective on white days). We did not notice any distortions. The adaptive lens for light conditions (category 2-3) is very convincing as it is highly versatile.
It’s important to note that the rounded aspect of the Julbo Lightwear OTG goggles makes them susceptible to impacts and scratches. They are delivered with a textile case featuring a semi-rigid section to provide protection.
The strap is good and stays in place. The plastic clip feels a bit cheap in its construction and sound.
Overall, an excellent versatile goggles, albeit not cheap, that can accommodate prescription glasses and features a very good lens with convincing optical qualities.
