Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW

We skied with the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW for three months this winter. We went through two phases. The first with sessions where we were very satisfied with this Cochise, designed for good skiers thanks to a 130 flex and a fairly snug fit (99mm last). Then, the thin liner deteriorated, and the shell became closer to the foot and caused pressure points, we even had to push the shell out.

You hardly feel the difference in flex between the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW and a pure Alpine ski boot. The 130 are noticeable, the hard point is probably a little different, slightly less progressive. At the end of the foot’s pressure, the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW’s shell doesn’t become oval-shaped. This is a good technical shoe with very good support and great riding precision. Be careful, skiers with high insteps will find the second hook is not easy to close, there’s limited leeway in this area. We could’ve imagined a slightly longer buckle.

We didn’t have any waterproofing issues with the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW, which is also relatively warm.

The ski/walk switch is not that practical, at least less than a pull-system. You must turn the small knob if you’ve locked the system, not easy when you have gloves on. Unlike the Rossignol Alltrack Pro 130, whose climbing angle doesn’t alter if you don’t open the hooks at the top of the collar, the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW’s system lets you switch to climb mode without opening the top buckles. But to have the 100% climb hiking angle, you still have to release the collar’s pressure.

La semelle GripWalk en Vibram est excellente, elle procure une très bonne accroche.

The Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW’s adjustment strap is like an alpine one with a metal buckle. We found it useful.

The Vibram GripWalk sole is excellent, it provides excellent grip.

In the descent, the Tecnica Cochise 130 DYN GW absorbs and transfers pressure without flinching, almost like an Alpine ski boot. A good weight/skiability ratio at a high price.
