The Kästle TX99 belongs to the family of touring skis from the Austrian brand, which offers products that don’t necessarily focus on ultra-lightweight designs. The emphasis here is on skiability. When it comes to the construction of these skis, there’s more than just air inside, unlike some products from other brands!
The Kästle TX99 is a comfortable ski in the sense that it absorbs all the irregularities of the terrain well. You immediately feel at ease on these skis—they aren’t tiring. The flex throughout the entire length of the ski is well-controlled.
The tip is effective in deep snow, featuring a rocker that isn’t overdone. The quality of the turn is good, and it handles small turns with ease. It’s important not to ski the Kästle TX99 too far forward, as you may lose a bit of control and the pleasure of smooth turning and comfort. This ski shines in these areas: pivoting, edge grip, laying the ski flat, easy drifting, and controlling the edge angle in relation to the slope. It also offers a good level of lightness underfoot without being excessive. You get both control and feel with the Kästle TX99. A good weight-to-performance ratio.
The tip is relatively soft, and with the rocker, it sometimes tends to snap back a bit. A possible fix for this could be to adjust the bindings slightly rearward. This would provide better ease in difficult snow conditions that require forward/rearward adjustments.
It handles high speeds and firm pressure well. The craftsmanship is excellent. Good glide.
This ski offers high-quality skiability for moderate elevation gain tours.
They are fluid, fairly easy to ski, and you feel at home on them right away. You can also ski them with a freeride focus. All this comes with comfort, ease, and lightness.
