Kästle ZX 115

CORE

We awarded the Core Test4Outside Award to this ski built for off-piste adventures. While highly performant, the Kästle ZX 115 remains surprisingly easy to pivot when flat — reminiscent of the Kästle Parangon 105. This ease of rotation is especially valuable when you need to make quick turns or adopt a more upright, relaxed skiing style.

One standout feature is its well-tuned flex. Despite the ski’s very long effective edge, it doesn’t feel locked into the snow. The slightly raised tail assists with maneuverability. The Kästle ZX 115 also “speaks” — it makes a bit of noise at the front on hard snow. It’s not unpleasant, but it does produce a distinct sound in firmer conditions.

When you engage the ZX 115 on edge, it locks into long turns — and it’s hard to break free from that arc. You need a strong skier or serious speed to shorten its radius. But when you let it run on its intended arc, nothing stops it. It charges, slices, flattens, floats — like a high-speed train. You find yourself diving into snow piles just for fun — the ski simply floats over everything. It filters out almost all terrain irregularities, making you feel like a freeride expert.
Its only downside? Weight. To be fair, we tested it with demo bindings, which are heavier than standard setups.

The construction is excellent. The top sheet is highly durable and resists wear. The tip is well protected by the fully wrapped edge. The tail rise is moderate, allowing the ZX 115 to fit easily in lift racks — impressive given its width.

Short turns on hard snow are not its thing. Carved short turns? Forget it. You really feel those 115 mm underfoot.

Turn initiation is classic — either from the front or from a centered stance. The ski forgives small mistakes, except when on edge at high speed. But this is not a punishing ski — it won’t pull you straight off your line.

A powerful ski built for blasting through powder at ridiculous speeds — no holding back. For serious skiers only. Core Award winner.
