The Millet Kamet Gore-Tex W perfectly embodies the idea of a 100% performance-oriented jacket. Designed for women who venture into the mountains and practice alpinism, it’s also a highly versatile protective shell that can be used for skiing, ski touring, or hiking. Thanks to its clean look and flattering cut, it can even be worn around town.
When it comes to sizing, it’s worth paying attention: the Kamet Gore-Tex W has quite a slim, athletic fit, so you’ll want to leave enough room for layering underneath — like a fleece or a light down jacket.
We were genuinely impressed by this Millet Kamet Gore-Tex W, which easily earns our First Test4outside Award. Weighing in at under 500 grams, it’s a lightweight yet highly protective shell. Waterproofing is excellent, thanks to the Gore-Tex membrane and the high-quality waterproof zippers, which slide smoothly. These zippers are equipped with small pull cords for easy handling while wearing gloves.
The hood is particularly well-designed — enveloping, structured on top, and helmet-compatible. It adjusts easily via the traditional three-point elastic system, and the extra drawcord around the neck doesn’t flap against your face in the wind.
Underarm waterproof pit zips provide ventilation when needed.
The wrist Velcro tabs are strong, and the sleeves fit comfortably over gloves and even a bulky GPS watch. The shaped sleeve ends add to the ergonomic feel. Two chest pockets complete the setup — they’re perfectly positioned so they don’t interfere with a climbing harness or rope work.
The Millet Kamet Gore-Tex W does make a bit of that characteristic rustling sound typical of three-layer shells, but it’s tough enough to handle scrapes against rock without issue. The overall construction is meticulous — no unnecessary frills, just pure, technical efficiency built on proven design choices.
